Classes
At Rising Dawn Ceramics Studio, we welcome anyone and everyone to try pottery. This is a place where mistakes are made, imperfections are welcome, and any skill level can learn and grow.
We are all about digging into creativity with clay. It's our way of molding more than just art; it's a community coming together, getting down and dirty with the joy of making.
All of our classes are located in our Fargo studio at 307 Main Ave.
*We are located right across the street from Cenex and our door is on Main Ave. There is a free parking lot on the east side of the building.
Fruit Plate Class
Craft a cute fruit plate in this juicy class. All skill levels welcome. You will build a plate that is the fruit of your choice, add texture, and apply the color all in one night!
Sgraffito Mug Class
Taught by visiting artist Nancy Leier, in this class you will learn the art of sgraffito by carving your own unique design on a handmade custom mug that will be glazed, fired and returned to you at the end of February.
Garden Stake Class
Spring is here! In this class you will make 5-7 garden stakes to label your herbs and veggies. They will be glazed and will be able to stand the test of time and weather.
Cute Catch Trays
Make the cutest catch tray ever! In this class you will choose a fun shape (or come up with your own) to make your tray, and then you will paint on a design in the same class! These are so customizable- make them cute, personalized, for a friend, raunchy, or whatever!
Beginning Ceramics Course
Beginning Ceramics spans 6 sessions and is tailored for ages 16 and up. This class provides a well rounded understanding of ceramic arts through hand building and wheel throwing techniques. This class will dive into pinch pots, coiling, slab building, wheel throwing, glazing, and attachment methods, with extra time for practice and project development.
Mushroom Plate/Spoon Rest Class
In this pottery class, learners will create a whimsical mushroom-shaped piece using slab construction. The end product will work as a small plate or a spoon rest! You'll learn the fundamentals of shaping and assembling clay to form your unique design. After building your mushroom, you'll have the opportunity to personalize it with surface decorations such as texture, carving, and underglaze painting to make it truly your own.
Paint your own Checker Mug Class
Join us in taping and painting your own checker mug design! You will be provided a hand thrown mug my Rising Dawn Ceramics on speckled clay and we will walk you through the steps on how to create crisp, colorful, and modern patterns on your mug. They will be clear glazed and returned to you within one week!
Platter Class
Create a serving platter for your next dinner party! You will make a slab built platter, attach handles and a foot, and select your glaze!
Intro to Wheel Throwing
This is a 2 hour class where you will learn centering, raising walls, and how to trim.
This class is recommended for ages 16 and up.
Wheel Throwing Course
We'll embark on a six-session journey filled with clay and creativity! This course is designed for anyone eager to dive into the wonderful world of pottery, whether you're a total newbie or just looking to brush up on your skills.
